Rochester Optical was established in Rochester, New York in 1932. The owner, at the time, saw a growing need for protective tactical eyewear for the Armed Forces, aircraft pilots, and patrolmen. Later, Rochester Optical became one of the country's few military prescription glasses frame manufacturers and supplied both the Army and the Air Force with combat-ready ballistic eyewear for soldiers.

Patrick Ho acquires Rochester Optical and decides to restore it to its former glory. He began a concerted effort to rebuild and diversify the business. In 1997 a full-service optical fabrication lab was established.
